Sorreh sorreh. Hello 2012, mental Christmas with hospital visits and the like unfortunately, back to University, work shifts, catching up with friends, sorting the house out...and so forth. but here's some pretty photos now I'm a bit free-er.

The Great Gatsby is one of my favourite books. I like it when my friends make an effort and dress up. It was my 20th Birthday. The evident outcome...?

These photos were taken at Mediaball - where the radio, newspaper and tv societies get together. As Deputy Fashion Editor I went along, as did my group of closest friends.

This last photo is with one my closest friends Georgios - he's off to Finland for a semester come January and I'll miss him a stupid amount.

After fighting to find the ultimate Christmas party dress...and panicking in an epic failure...I got the best surprise (and rescue!) when the lovely people at Motel Rocks sent me this dress! As one of my favourite party dress brands I was so pleased. On arrival the dress fitted perfectly, I got so many compliments, and having worried about how it would look I couldn't have felt more confident in it. Highly recommended!

The dress is the "Gabby Sequin Dress,"comes in charcoal, black or gold and is £58. I usually stick to my black outfits, but the sequins gave it that little bit of Christmas spirit.

I've always adored The Selby blog, and got the book when it came out.

It continues to influence and impress me, and now with a separate 'edible selby' I'm not sure what else could improve it. I'm a bit of a foodie...to say the least.

This year's entailed a visit to two different friends on a 'house party' trail by the lovely workers of Frank's Bar. Punch, extravagant costumes, 'thriller' on repeat, and a fully decorated floor to ceiling bin liner-ed entrance with Halloween decor. [these guys know how to make the effort!]

I didn't go as anything specific. So obligatory stolen costume ensued at the last house...

Eye make up efforts...and the skeleton costume I made for Alex [so proud! but I left zero time for my own...]

Vodka jelly, punch, gory-esque food, pumpkins, candles, sugary red apples and so forth...

After week's of attempted plans to visit this little place post-recommendation from Alex's work friends on just how good their Thai Beef Salad was... we finally arrived. I'm not going to lie that knowing we were actually going got me a little excited. This isn't just a restaurant, it's also a wine store, and deli. Eyes meet with bottles of high quality wine, Spanish meats and a vast range of speciality cheeses. We picked from the lunch menu and after debating everything on the menu, and considering having something different each...we ended up with exactly the same thing.

The food was delicious, we'd opted for the Chorizo 'sandwich' with tomato, pepper, aioli mayonnaise and pomme frites. It is a strange mixture of Spanish, Thai and French food on the menu - lots of seafood too - but nothing bad could really be said. And they were definitely very generous in the amount of chorizo provided... All the ingredients are fresh, good quality, and it's nice to be able to see into the kitchen when they cook. Recipe books line the walls, which you're allowed to flick through, as long as you take care!

I'll happily be going back, most likely to try some sea food or Thai this time...

I've been making the most of home-time by catching up with the best friends I left behind. We've done Yo! Sushi & shopping, and then went out the week after (with me wearing exactly what I bought with them the week before, minus the shoes). Sure have missed them. It's funny how things can change so quickly, and I've been contemplating everything with tea, sunshine and...the internet? I move into my new house in Norwich on Tuesday! And god how excited am I. I finally have a double bedroom, and there's wood floors everywhere (I have a bit of a thing about it...). This year will hopefully be full of beautiful things, and I think my head's tightly screwed on with everything I want, like and know I should do. Get ready for some photos of the new house, and snippets of daily life, friends and exciting projects x

Snapshots since home time...summer food, home produce & wooden boards.

First year is over. My weeks have been filled with little sleep, sporadic beds, friends overload (although I can never get enough of them), gigs, dinners, garden parties, going out...and a hell of a lot of happiness. This year has evolved to be one of the best I've ever had, and I can't wait for the next with the beautiful people I call my friends.

This used to be primarily a 'fashion blog'. It's now a 'life blog'.

I'm foraying into music and a billion other things right now so expect everything for event coverage to food photography, festivals and of course still all the fashion! There's new jobs and my new apartment and god knows what else on the horizon...!

Oh & you'll be pleased to know, yes...I passed first year. And I will still be spending a full on year in the U S of A, including a hell of a lot of travelling with best friends - wowser.

Returning home from University meant a two-week holiday (more later), and now I've returned from that too. I always love coming home to home produce, fresh foods and what feels like being a country bumpkin.

I currently have a bit of a thing for 'rock' jewellery. These photos were taken at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout exhibition at London Fashion Week. Whilst I usually focus on the clothes I was instantly drawn to this display, and had a good chat with the designer herself. I'm particularly lusting after that amethyst necklace but if anyone wants to buy me a ring...I'd be more than up for a fools gold one too!

Spending my days soaking up the sun, having garden parties and BBQs, and revising for those exams that start next week... looking forward to summer and a pretty exciting new project.

London Fashion Week Day One.

15 hours of wearing heels, snapping celebrities, checking out the shows in the BFC tent.

Hitting up the Look Show and the VFS After Party.

So I said I wouldn't do 'full on' show reviews, you've got Style.com for that. I'll be posting some photos and the odd line about the shows I did attend, but I'm focusing on the Look event and VFS after party that'll have less accessible coverage!

The Look Magazine event was a wonderful, last minute surprise courtesy of Kirsty.

It features a champagne reception, show, raffle and after show drinks.

There was also a photobooth and chocolate fountain, delicious canapés, and an area for celebrities to get snapped. Every single attendee also got a packed out goody bag. Plus we were treated to a performance from Alexis Jordan!

The 'frow' consisted of the likes of Marina, Olivia Palmero, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Jaime Winstone.

The show itself consists of the up-and-coming pieces from the hottest high street stores, so brands such as Mango, H&M, River Island and so forth.

Myself & Kirsty also had our photos taken for the Look magazine website. For me I think the best brands was most likely New Look, French Connection and Uniqlo - I definitely picked out some key pieces I'll be hunting down!

So London Fashion Week once again kicks off tomorrow...

As someone who prefers the September season, and has a lot of things on my plate atm, I didn't apply to nearly so many this year. So I was pleasingly surprised by the influx of invites & tickets I've received, including to a number of parties and special private events! I've had phone calls and emails and I'm rather excited to share it all with you once again.

Seeing as you can check Style.com within about 2 minutes for images and trend reviews, I'll be bringing you the 'extra' bits of London Fashion Week.

Here's some of my favourite shows/bits from last season - all photos are my own.

I was delighted to be invited to the Most Wanted Fashion Revolution Party at the Soho Hotel last Tuesday. It was a brilliant evening, hosted by the lovely people at VoucherCodes.co.uk [head over there to grab money off your online shopping!]

We were treated to cocktails on arrival, with plenty more and wine inside, delicious canapes and even a tower of cupcakes! There were so many bloggers there and it was lovely to see friends like Kirsty, Lucy, Fiona and Frances.

We also had the use of an awesome photobooth - some of the photos which you can see above of my sister and myself! We then had a film screening of Marie Antoinette, one of my favourite films for its use of costume, colour, soundtrack and of course cake!

Long Overdue Snippets of An Intern

Many of you may know of my internship at Company magazine last summer. My favourite experience has to have been the photoshoot I helped on that starred Lissie, Sky Ferreira and The Like. I saw Lissie at Latitude and absolutely loved her - so to get to meet her personally and have a chat was awesome. I actually got the chance to help with the styling - particularly of The Like.

Whilst there I took a number of "behind-the-scenes" images - especially as the location was so beautiful; a massive London house with different themed rooms on each floor. As the title suggests...here are those long overdue photos I took:

As blogging is all about personal style, I love sharing new brands I've stumbled across that really hold their own amongst the typical high street fashions. Those that have their own individual aesthetic and often represent something more than just clothes.

My current new favourite is a brand titled "SGC NYC," so I got in touch with them. Their inspiration and pieces are said to stem from influences of fashion, art and music - which sounded just my sort of thing. On asking what they then felt their clothes stood for, the answer was simply "youthfulness, individuality and New York".

I loved the new season photoshoot they set up [see below], and the collection is exactly what I love to wear - simple, loose pieces to layer with a little bit of flair. I also love the fact you can see the design process from these sketches!

So finally about month or more later I'm back. University has been the most insane thing.

When I feel like I'm doing absolutely nothing, I'm busier than I've ever been.

Work, play, writing, drinking, friends, trips, societies; it's all go.

The whole point is, I'm actually hoping I'm "back".

Lots to share with you all but let's start with the Aussie "Take The Heat" Product Launch on Friday 5th November.

for those of you who don't know I'm actually included in a group of girls known as the "Aussie Angels" - we represent the brand, go to the events and are here to tell you all about their brilliant products.

The launch event was simply amazing, all us girls were 100% spoilt and the only thing I paid for was a tube there and back...yes, spoilt is an understatement. I checked into the hotel where myself and my sister were being put up for the night by the Aussie team, before hunting down fellow Angels & setting off for the night.

We all met outside the London Eye, full of excitement. The Aussie team had organised for us to go round not just once, but twice, on fireworks night too which was a lovely experience. We were treated to a lot of free champagne and the most delicious canapes I've ever tasted from "The Pommery" [Australians called the English "Poms" for those of you that don't know! - this was the point I excitedly texted my Australian flatmate...].

After this we were whisked off in two Hummer limos - a surprise for us all - to Jewel Bar, just off The Strand.

We all got a little overexcited by them and thoroughly enjoyed the gigantic bottles of champagne.

Outside the bar we were met with a woman doing tricks with fire batons - all matching the theme of the Take The Heat products. Once inside more drinks were on offer, eventually moving from champagne to some delicious cocktails - I opted for the French Martini [full of pineapple juice, yum!].

We were also provided with slates of hot nibbles ranging from calamari to ribs and mini pizza slices. The food and drink was rounded off with cupcakes - what's an Angel night out without cupcakes to be fair...

The Take The Heat products may be some of my new Aussie favourites - although my love for their anti-frizz collection still holds strong. The new products smell absolutely delicious, and as always they've outdone themselves with the collection ranging from shampoo and conditioner, to a deep treatment, as well as a spray and a mousse.

As always I'm so grateful for the generosity of the Aussie team. Before the event they even sent us all the products along with slippers, hot chocolate, and a hand muff! The event was a great success, one of the best nights I've had, and it was lovely to see Emma, the rest of the Aussie team, and all the Angels once again.

Fashion Week.

I've been stupidly lucky. One standing show and all the rest seated; ridiculously good positions for Louise Gray and BodyAmr.
I could go through the shows in detail but you can find it on Style.com really...
So instead it's my experiences, my p.o.v.

I've had products and makeovers from the deightful people at MAC - a little review coming soon. Been allowed backstage at Ones To Watch where I met the deightful Charlotte Taylor, A. Hallucination guys and Georgina Hardinge. Spotted the gorgeous Lily Allen at BodyAmr, before seeing Daisy Lowe (my absolute favourite!) and Amber Rose (Kanye West's girlfriend) walk. It may seem like I'm name dropping but the buzzy audience atmosphere around these events means they're worth a mention.

Other highlights include catching up with the lovely fashion friends I rarely get to see. The exhibitions have been a wealth of talent and making new contacts. And I loved the Orla Kiely presentation as always, plus added Craig Lawrence to my interest list.

I'll be sharing images and brands and other experiences with you for weeks to come. But thanks to four hours sleep I'm off to bed; Matthew Williamson beckons tomorrow...

Predictable London Fashion Week Post

So guys, tomorrow it all kicks off and I'll be there!

Alternatively I'm be trying to post at the end of each day...which could be interesting as this season I also have parties after the shows.

My schedule for tomorrow includes:

Paul Costello, Caroline Charles, Ones to Watch [including backstage access!], Maria Grachvogel and Prophetik to name a few. As well as the Prophetik party in the evening.

I'll be taking 100s of photos of outfits, the catwalks, backstage hair and make up and lots more.

A love affair with Jasper Garvida

I was kindly invited to the My Sugarland blogger event last Wednesday and took along my beautiful friend and fellow blogger Molly.We previewed the new collection and browsed the vintage rails, whilst being tempted by a famous chocolatier; popping candy and the salted caramel were amazing.It was a chance to meet fellow fashion bloggers, plus have our hair and make up done by professionals [I didn't get round to the hair part...]. Then we chose items and styled them up before having our photos taken professionally.

I fell head over heels for this shirt...silky soft with sculptured shoulders. Not sure I can quite afford the price tag at this stage but here's hoping. Not long now until London Fashion Week; in fact just three days and I'll be on my way to London. I went shopping yesterday with the lovely boyfriend and picked out some new treats to wear. Tickets are actually turning up and I got the most amazing news yesterday that I'd been invited to the Matthew Williamson show. Excited? Moi? If you're there be sure to drop me a line! xx

Life is hectic and spontaneous at the moment. Final summer trips and a lack of internet has left for sporadic posting. I'll finally be back for permanent times shortly. And I actually have stuff to share like some photos of behind-the-scenes at Company magazine, blogger event coverage, and who can forget London Fashion Week. I don't know what to wear, tickets are coming in, I have some plus ones which equals fashionable friends and it's not far at all now. Fashion week is for eating little, inspiration, sore feet and friends who you only ever see at fashion-related events but click instantly with. I can't wait to catch up with some of mine and bring you all the photos, trends and gossip from the front row [or back row ;)].

I'm covering for a few different magazines but I'll also post up on here just for you guys.

This jumper was an incredibly kind gift from the people behind Rare clothing; Think Publicity. I was devastated that I had to miss the blogger preview event and it was so lovely to be emailed a month or so later offering an item of my choice. Gawd you guys...so I should really tell you all about Company! I'm sorry that I haven't updated you but as I'm sure you can understand things have been pretty mental/hectic & also I've had some internet issues.

Anyway I can't believe this is going to be my final week... I'll probably now keep posting about it afterwards as there's so much to catch up on.

Then in September I'll be talking about some new ventures, some great fashion events and of course getting into the realms of London Fashion Week - I'm so excited for September. It'll be fashion central... oh, and I'm off to Uni! If any of you guys are let me know - maybe we'll even be in the same place!

I don't want to overwhelm you with heaps of writing so as I said I'll definitely be posting about Company for a while over multiple posts. I'm gathering more photographic "evidence" in my final week too ;)

I was pretty nervous about my first day; looking the part, getting there on time, remembering everything... Lucky for me the Company fashion team is lovely to work with. They may often be stressed or too busy to help but at the end of the day we'll chat about everything and the whole experience hasn't actually been too stressful at all! A big difference to what I've heard from other interns. Not only has it not been too stressful but I've actually got to do so much more than I thought I would, and again a lot more than others. Seriously we work so hard to impress our superiors! On my first day I met Tobi, the other intern, and we got on so well. I love her style & whether she wants to be or not I'll get some photos of her up on here.

My first week mainly consisted of learning the ins and outs of the fashion cupboard. We did returns [luckily not on foot!], made appointments for the team and got prices for credits. It's really interesting liaising with PRs and we had great fun calling in items for an celebrity shoot.

I was absolutely amazed when on my second day the fashion director asked if I wanted to go on a photoshoot with her that Thursday - my first week! I'd tried really hard to impress her and it looked like it worked. The photoshoot was amazing and it was a great opportunity to get one on one time with the fashion director before she went on holiday; I asked a lot of questions! It was just the two of us on the shoot plus make up artist, hair stylist, photographer + assistant, and because we were lucky enough to have a location bus, our driver Dan!

The final images looked absolutely stunning & I wanted so many of the clothes used. It was an edgy British lady look with tweed, dogtooth & tartan matched again leather and boots; yum. We used a gorgeous 1960s Ford Mustang [car] too as a backdrop - my favourite! I was so grateful for the experience and I was focused on making sure the FD had everything she needed, taking credits & I even got to help with styling! Wow.

[An interesting welcome at the PURE event...!]

Hi all! Sorry I've been so MIA.
My first two weeks at Company have been amazing, not even exaggerating...but more on that later.
First off I'll tell you about an event I went to last Sunday.

It's called PURE London as is basically a huge tradeshow which showcases all of next season's items from loads of brands.
I got invited by my lovely sponsor Funkrock to pick some items from their new collection.
I also picked up some fab other unknown brands which I can't wait to share with you soon!

I finally got to spend some time with Molly too which was lovely!

OK so this is stupidly late... I've been travelling again and never know if I will or won't have internet! Luckily for this week I do :)

Latitude was fabulous. The music was excellent, as was the atmosphere. We met Yeasayer which was so cool, and listened to some newer bands like Lissie and Lauren Pritchard. Big names included Vampire Weekend, Mumford & Sons, The XX [favourite performance!] and The Temper Trap. There were so many different tents too, like comedy, and a CSM & Chelsea Graduate Fashion Show across the lake!

I also stopped by the Fashion Shed in the Faraway Forest, where fashion promotion students showcased their final work [magazines / zines etc], and a live photoshoot took place.

Off to Latitude today!! If you're going make sure you seek me out to be street style snapped for Shop Pulse. I'll be scouting a lot to day as I won't be watching bands.

I hope the weather cheers up... I'd really like to just wear cut offs and loose tops. Or beautiful white dresses fit for Italy, like the ones I've recently scouted from The White Company.

I've never really had a decent look at this shop, although there is one in town. But I really think it actually has some great items, especially for a more sophisticated summer look.

I love the simplicity of this white dress, and would wear it over this gorgeous bandeau bikini. I'm not sure if this style would suit me but have seen some people looking beautiful in them so maybe I'll try it!

Here's a little catch up...x

Sporadic postings caused by spontaneous days and lovely beach trips.

I've spent the weekend at my grandma's/beach with my boyfriend.

I'll reply to all comments tomorrow, and August will see a huge focus on my blog especially whilst interning at Company [not long now!].

This is my new Wildfox top, that I mentioned in the last post, from the Pop Store event.

I love the colour and wore it to a special club night that I rep for on Thursday.

I'm definitely going to be wearing it to Latitude festival.

If you're going to Latitude keep an eye out for me as I'll be street style photographing for Shop Pulse!

Finally exams are all over & I've had a pretty crazy last few days...

[I'll reply to comments on the last post tomorrow!]

Every day has already been incredibly hectic, but so much fun.

On Thursday I went to London with my sister, Tess [whatwasfoundthere.blogspot.com]. She had an interview & then we spent the day shopping, before going off to an exclusive preview for 15 bloggers of the Wildfox, LNA, Disayra & Disney Couture Pop Up Sale! It was held in the Whiteleys Shopping Centre & other fabulous people included MiggyLikesTheInternet, Laura from Shop Pulse & Yay or Nay.

The sale is being hosted by Pop Store which is an initiative that takes over empty shop spaces for a limited time & hosts sample sales.

We were greeted with champagne & had lots of time to browse.

We even got to go away with a FREE item! & as someone who has lusted over many Wildfox & LnA pieces for quite some time the whole thing was awesome. Thanks PopStore :)

Phew, the English exam is out of the way. All I can do now is wait for the results, fingers crossed!

My days are currently filled with piles of paper, highlighters and copious amounts of tea.

The words of John Milton are buzzing around my head and it's pretty hard to relax.

For those of you who don't know I'm part of the Vice Bloggers Network. Currently they're working with an inspiring project called 'The Creators Project'. . .

So, I jumped on the bandwagon and have got a formspring. See it in the right hand bar :)

Currently in the middle of revision, fun times.

I did have an ace time at the degree fashion show though.

It was the Anglia Ruskin Degree Show and the first time they've ever done one. I was working backstage and I think for a first attempt it went really well.

Also went to the lovely SATC2 event with free cosmopolitans and press, for work.

It was great fun and we had our own cinema.

Although I wouldn't say the film was amazing per se [I prefer the first one], slightly 'this would never ever happen etc' it was still a great girl's night out so I'd totally recommend you all go see it if you haven't already!

I'm sorry this is so belated...I have quite a lot of catching up to do!

I promised you all some coverage from the VIP Aussie Party so here it is :)

[for those of you who don't know I'm an 'Aussie Angel']

My sister, whatwasfoundthere.blogspot.com, and I spent the day in London shopping, getting cupcakes from the Hummingbird Bakery (YUM) and going to the V&A. We then met up with the lovely Kirsty, fashionchampagne.blogspot.com, before heading over to the party venue!

[There was also a lot of spotting the London elephant trail...]

The theme was Mad Hatters Tea Party, held for the 'frizzy' hair group. It was held in the most beautiful venue; Mews of Mayfair. We were in the chef's dining room which had maps covering the walls.

We were welcomed by Emma, the lovely organiser, before meeting some fellow bloggers.

Champagne was served, along with the most delicious canapes. Yum yum yum.

Then there was gin or rum punch to choose from held in giant teacups and served into our smaller ones. The table was covered with jars of flying saucer sweets, feathers, and cupcake stands. The room and theme were magical.

Then onto the fun part! A hair demonstration was given on Tessa Rose, and the end result was really cool; something I might try myself! We all swapped tips whilst this went on.

Then we were brought into a fascinator / headband making course which was a really interesting thing to learn, and it was a lot of fun. I'm still finishing off mine as unfortunately we had to leave a little early...but I'll post photos!

Hello lovely, happy, summery people. I have had the best final few days at college.

Last night the girls headed over to our friend Lizzie's for swimming, Chinese and some wino.

It was the perfect ending to many years at my school/college.

Now I'm just left with A Levels...

Thanks to this post it's pretty obvious I've FINALLY got my internet back! :)

So for my A Level textiles the theme is 'Illusion'. This led to ideas on children's stories and I eventually ended up with 'Peter and the Wolf'. As part of this I did a mini 'photoshoot' as some response work. I was partly inspired by the Topshop Unique AW10 Show:

[In the story the wolf gets caught by rope hanging from a tree...I'm not doing this just for the hell of it ;)]

Unfortunately I don't have a big ol' wolf's head lying around, and I'm not a major fur girl.

However I do have a beautiful fake fur wrap that Mike's mum got be for my birthday from Laura Ashley! And I went for it with the hair and make up... that hair took a LONG time to unravel, the things I do for A Levels.

It was great fun doing it and I'm pretty pleased with the photos, even if they're not really really wolf-like...

I went to an event last night that my friend Andrew was a part of, it was so lovely to see him after a long time and I'll be seeing him more soon; including this Saturday!

It was in a vintage and second-hand store who were selling off all the high street stock they'd been donated but didn't want to sell on a usual day. I picked up a lovely little Karen Millen jumper for a fiver which will no doubt feature on here soon. I also saw Remember Me with my friend Alice which I really enjoyed although we felt it was a little slow.

Also I've picked up this month's Velvet* too and I'm in there, so have a look if you can! :)

On Saturday I went to the beach with my family and Mike and we stopped off at the most amazing charity / vintage store. It stocked vintage Jaeger skirts, tights, buttons, beautiful bags, Burberry and so much more. I nabbed myself these two pairs of tights on the cheap; vintage Christian Dior: yum, and I just love the pattern on the others.

First off a piece of good news...

I received news that I've been accepted onto a placement to intern at Company magazine throughout the month of August. I'll keep you all updated on my daily antics, outfits and excitement so make sure to keep up to date then!

Also I'll shortly be sharing some images of some clothing and textiles I've been producing, and a few other exciting bits and pieces.

Also for those of you that don't know, after completing my work experience at Velvet* / Nktbe* magazine they asked me to stay on as a freelance writer. I've been in the issues since February, and am in this month's Nktbe* with two features.

So last night I went to a club night I was repping for.

It was of course lovely to catch up with people.

The music was the best I've heard in Cambridge and the venues my favourite too.

Freebies of haribo, chocolate eggs, glow sticks and UV paint...

I dragged my Levi's tshirt from the post below out again to do the 'day to night' look although technically I hadn't really been wearing it during the day...I'd be trying a load of different looks.

Anyway, I teamed it with my DIY denim cut offs, over the knee socks and 5 inch heels, yum.
Plus some braids and of course the bright blue nails!

I'm feeling quite pleased as Swarovski have contacted me to say they've selected me as one of a select few to air the Swarovski Player that will be showing a number of shows live from Paris Fashion Week. It will be one of about 10 sites in the world that has it :)
It will be starting tonight at 6.30pm as far as I've been told.

Went off to see the Tom Ford film 'A Single Man' this afternoon. Nicholas Holt was pretty yum in it. It was a bit of a weird, depressing film - but good all the same.

I'm listening to a few pretty good bands, adding a bit of a different sound to my Ipod.

And I'm really looking forward to some upcoming events and news.

Anyway, back to LFW! On the first day I also stopped by the Orla Kiely presentation. Which was literally in the prettiest set up, with the cutest print blouses. My friend Carrie simply adored the whole thing. We got some fruit sticks to munch on whilst we watched, and I've now become a firm Orla Kiely fan!

LFW Day 1: Caroline Charles

Sorry for appalling photos. My number 1 on my current wishlist is a proper camera - don't worry, it WILL come. Unfortunately I forgot to snap a photo of my Day 1 outfit, but I'll do it later just for the fun of it. Day 1 started very early for me having had Molly to stay the night before, which was so fun, meant I was so tired...! But I arrived in London, got to Somerset House & met with Rachael my editor, before getting my press pass.

First stop was Caroline Charles which was a big one for me, seated too.

Hadn't quite got the hang of photo snapping yet...& my camera doesn't seem to approve of moving objects, or any sort of darkness which was how the tent was...

A stunning collection full of 1920s glamour, sequins, leather, lace, fur and splashes of bright green in the form of gloves... Typically British meant that tweed featured too. The whole collection was beautiful, and there was something for everyone, especially due to the mix of day and eveningwear.

Sorry for a lack of posting. Time at the moment is amazing! but so very hectic...

I've been having to coordinate LFW organisation around work experience - harder than I thought!

I've got some more amazing invitations, including Orla Kiely and Betty Jackson. So excited about it all. I got my blackberry today too so I'll be posting live from the shows ! As well as more detailed entries later, so keep checking back :)

Work experience is amazing. I've written articles, one of which is already in the magazine, contacted press, researched and brain stormed and finally - EDITED the BOOK. Yes, as in THE BOOK, just like in the devil wears prada...haha ;)

This is where I'm working; pretty awesome!

Loveliest weekend with Mike who I haven't seen in five weeks, boo. We went to dinner at the best restaurant ever, and my absolute favourite - cocktails, overlooking the river etc etc. We also went to see Valentine's Day - I actually really liked it, a good laugh/cry/romance. Go see.

I am so very very very excited for this week.

My latest Not Just A Label article!

I did it with my editor Hanne as unfortunately this was the time I was really ill...so wasn't exactly able to hand in my best work, so she kindly added quite a bit to it :)

The interview behind the piece was with Papusza Couture - she is the most amazing New York designer, featured as a NJAL designer and I absolutely adore her work. She made a real effort to answer all my questions in full and so I just couldn't refrain from sharing it with you all!

1. Do you think street style has had an effect on new and emerging designers, rather than just the big name designers? If so - how?

Absolutely. Especially as emerging designers, still building a name for ourselves, we have to consider marketability and how we are gonna pay the bills. Street style represents how people are comfortable presenting themselves on a day to day basis. As much as it may be creatively fulfilling to make pieces that are unconventional or impractical it is important to balance that out with things people can wear in everyday life.

Also, as not only a designer, but as an artist, I think it is my responsibility to push boundaries, and compel people to step outside of their comfort zones and break the mainstream mould. I use street style as a tool to inspire me. I observe what people are comfortable wearing, and then I try and play with it, and see what I can do to make it more interesting. I believe this type of mentality is what makes fashion evolve.

Personally, I spend a lot of time observing what people wear in the city in their everyday lives. One of my favourite things to do on the subway is look at peoples' shoes. I don't design shoes, but I love them, and perhaps one day I will... I have spent a lot of time in my mind culminating the ideal shoe, that is both beautiful and street appropriate. Hopefully one day I can make it a reality.

2. Is any of your work inspired by what you see on the street - if so could you give an example?

Sure, my work is very inspired by what I see on the street, especially living in New York. People are not afraid to express themselves through what they wear here. That being said I think a lot of the influence to my aesthetic comes from my having grown up in close proximity to Portland and Seattle. The idea of grunge, punk rock and vintage played a huge role in my personal love of fashion.

The area where I think this influence is most apparent in my aesthetic is in my use of deconstruction and disintegration. For example, I think there is a certain beauty, and representation of process, in finding a basic pair of tights, shredding them up, and dying them in a manner that makes them appear discoloured, and weathered. It gives them more texture, and makes them more interesting to look at, in giving the appearance of how time can impact and add character a very basic article of clothing.

3. When looking for ideas for your collections, do you ever look at street style blogs such as The Sartorialist?

I enjoy looking at fashion blogs, and of course I get ideas when looking at them. That being said, I can't say I specifically seek them out to gather inspiration for my collections.

The Sartorialist is great, and although I don't look at it as much as I should I often see things that stimulate new ideas when I check it out. I also like seeing how street style in Europe compares to street style in New York. I particularly enjoy keeping up on fashion in Japan. One of my favourite blogs to look at for inspiration is STYLE from TOKYO. I love Harajuku, and I think the Japanese are bold in their willingness to be playful with everyday fashion.

4. Does any of your current collection relate to street trends - if so which would you say?

The new collection I am creating to show in September '10 has a lot of inspiration from street style. I am working a lot with leather, and doing lot's of separates and more pants than I have in the past. Although I am still creating a handful of fun, avant garde dresses (which is one of the things I enjoy most in my design process), I am also doing a lot of separates to balance them out. For example, I am making lots of little vests, bustiers, pantaloons and leggings that can either be layered with more theatrical pieces to dress them down, or that can be worn with day wear, like jeans and t-shirts, to dress them up. These are the pieces that resemble an aire of timelessness, and one of my more recently acquired design philosophies is to make having them a part of a collection be a priority.

5. Have you seen any trends on the street that are now being replicated on the catwalk?

Sure, I see things on the catwalk all the time that are variations of styles I see on the street. One of my recent favourite examples of this would be some of the gowns in the Viktor & Rolf Spring '10 collection. They had a lot of tulle in their garments (which I LOVE), and some of the pieces resembled tutu's that had been worn out on the town and torn or chopped up. To me this is very rock and roll, and filled with body and texture. I love how interesting and creative the beautiful imperfection of the concept is.

Another favourite is the reworked punk rock t-shirt, seen in numerous variations on the runway. When I was a teenager we used to always take our beloved band shirts, and cut them up, fringe them, cut holes in them and weave strange objects into the fringe. I still see this expression of DIY everyday on the streets in Brooklyn, and have seen it recently in many varieties in the collections of Gaultier, Westwood, Rodarte and Comme Des Garcons. It has inspired me to pull out some of my old favorite shirts! I guess it's a good thing I still listen to a lot of the same music.

My pre-planned idea: inspired by my favourite Vogue issue - Christmas 2008 (The 'Fantasy' Issue). [As well as a few others such as March 2009]

I wanted to look at my favourite photographer Tim Walker as a starting point.

Then I hoped to explore other areas that linked to the idea of 'fantasy,' such as the bunny ears at LV. My final piece will most likely be some kind of costume...!

On Tuesday evening I went to London to attend the Aussie Bloggers Event for Australia Day, which I was kindly invited to by Hannah of london--rose.blogspot.com.

It was a lovely evening taking place at The Rainforest Cafe - which was a fabulous venue! It literally looked like a forest, with moving animals and sound effects. The party took place on the bottom floor that had been hired out for the event. On arrival we were given delicious cocktails, and through the night there was Australian-style 'BBQ' food, as well as Australian sweets.

The event had some special things lined up throughout the evening, such as a nail technician, a catwalk show for bloggers to take part in - of course I did!, and the most amazing polaroid cameras I've ever seen that must have cost SO MUCH...but we used a lot of the film!

People won prizes for all sorts of things - and I got a big bottle of Aussie Hair Product that I got to pick for taking part in the catwalk.

I met some fabulous bloggers such as Kavita (iheartvintagex.blogspot.com), Ling (moonbeamstarlight.blogspot.com - beauty blogger!), Lucy (snippetsofshinythoughts.blogspot.com), Carrie (wishwishwish.net) and of course Hannah!

We also got to take away some fabulous goody bags...enjoy the photos!...

Getting The Swing of This Outfit Thing...

...So I'm trying to make a real effort with my blog as I already write for magazines but like having my own outlet too. Plus I love reading all your lovely comments and talking to other bloggers!

So here we go - posting more. And here's an outfit post - lots more of these in the future!

So after my beautiful friend Caroline bought me this skirt for my birthday I couldn't not wear it! I love the colour so much, and get this...it's from a vintage shop in London and it's made from a RECYCLED jumper! (for those of you who don't know, I love stuff like this...!)

My jacket is one of my favourite pieces too - it came from a boutique called 'Dahlia' which was at Clothes Show Live London 2009.

Finally my shoes were bought for me by my lovely boyfriend - New Look.

& the black leggings and strap top are both H&M basics.

I wore this to college yesterday, and the photos are taken in my textiles space ;)

P.s - Watch Material Girl - it's a little cringe but I love it anyway.

...on something that most likely won't even last a week. Oh who am I kidding - if I could, I most likely would. What am I talking about? 'Chanel's Non-Permanent Skin Art'! Featured at their Spring/Summer 2010 show, the designs are absolutely exquisite. So much detail. And for one like myself who isn't into permanent tattoos - I can't help but love these transfers! At £49 for a pack of 5 sheets, I don't think I'll be buying them... although 5 sheets = 55 designs.

[MUST keep telling myself NO NO NO].

But er...anyone got a washable body pen? Maybe I'll have a go... ;)

Pretty Presents & A Fab 21st...!

Going back to my birthday - I got some lovely presents. So here's a composition of a few. I think it's quite Chanel-esque :)

For my sister's 21st we headed to London: on the train, at dinner - doesn't that cocktail and those amazing puddings look YUM (We went to HAHABar - highly recommended), and outside Wicked - which was absolutely AMAZING. One of the best musicals I've seen, the singing blew me away, and there were plenty of laughs, and tears.

4th-5th, Day time: Haircut. Braces OFF. Lunch at Henrys inc. cocktailm, yum.

Make Up Done. Get Dressed. Get Excited. Final Panic.

Got to the 1st place, the bar I'd hired out and it all worked perfectly. The perfect boyfriend made a perfect playlist, the lights were good, the friends turned up and stayed the whole time, and I sat and sipped perfect cocktails.

To say... I am so busy trying to complete everything for magazines and college before I head off to NEW YORK this week. I promise to have lots of photos and things to talk about on my return.

The National Portrait Gallery...&other things.

For those of you who live in the UK, and have suitable access to London, I cannot resist encouraging you to head down to the National Portrait Gallery this Christmas.

A personal favourite of mine I absolutely adore the gallery, more so if the exhibition is a photographic one - I'm more photographer than painter see.

So here are two I encourage you to see:

Twiggy: A Life In Photographs

This inspirational woman who is still evident in the fashion world today captured the imagination of the swinging sixties with her boyish figure, long legs and cropped hair.

The iconic photograph by Barry Lategan from 1966 (above) will be shown, right up to some from 2008.
Model, Actor, Television Presenter and more, this is not to be missed.

The collection presents 0ver 150 photographs of 1960s London, along with various memorabilia.

So I'm not going to go into huge apologies for not posting...in over a month (I probably should really thanks to that horrific time-scale). UCAS / Coursework / Job etc.

I hope you're all well and school / college / university / jobs are not getting you down.

Not long until the Christmas holidays for me and personally I CANNOT WAIT.

I'm off to New York for the first time ever...and so excited about it. We're also hitting up Washington DC & a day stop in Philli...gonna be a bit mad, and going with college but hopefully stupidly fun. If I'm feeling really generous / have any money left (".) you may find a little Christmassy competition appears on here after my trip ;)

I've got my first article in Not Just A Label now. It was on the front page for a while, the title of their newsletter, and the main feature of the newsletter so I was rather proud to say the least. Not Just A Label is one of my favourite sites so I've been hanging on for this moment for some time.

Final Press Release + Workworkwork!

Some people hate that they HAVE to work. I love my job - I work in a boutique, we have events like Champagne Evenings with mini makeovers, and my boss is willing to take me to London events like PURE + gave me a voucher for a free nail treatment (see photo :)). All the girls are also so lovely, I work on my own on Sundays - and I've only been there about a month!

Here's some cute snaps that I took last Sunday - we've just launched Rings Eclectic and I sold the first one. They're so gorgeous ;)

You all know from previous posts how I like to help out those good causes. Well here's another and it comes in the form of a great issue of Lipstick Royalty Magazine.

Lipstick Royalty's October Issue is a very special one, with all proceeds going to T he Laura Crane Trust, a trust based in Huddersfield for the care of young people with cancer, which is very close to the editors' hearts!

You can download the edition HERE for just £1.50, which I think is incredibly good value whilst helping charity.

Sorry all for my absence, haven't been feeling my best lately and it eventually caught up with me so have been ill, in bed, joy...! Hey All!

As you may remember from a post further back - I was desperate to do some interning at Amelia's Magazine but couldn't fit in the 3 months they needed. So now the lovely fashion editor has accepted my application to become a regular contributor - yes!

I just saw my second article is up, which I didn't even realise. A pretty different style to my usual writing so quite hard to compose - think I'll be happier when I go back to my style reviews. Coming soon: Designer Interview - watch this space!
